Where are jira plugin images stored and is it possible to overwrite them?

Simon Poissant September 1, 2015

Hello everyone,

I'd like to change the image used by Jira.Agile to display the "number of days in a column" on the Kanban board as I find it very hard to notice.

I was hoping it would be a simple matter of overwriting the PNG file but it seems that image is not stored directly in the file system (i.e. searching for it in the file explorer will not return any result).

Looking at the page, I can see the image is loaded using the following URL:
/s/en_US-ns74du-1988229788/6264/5/6.3.13.1/_/download/resources/com.pyxis.greenhopper.jira:gh-rapid-common/images/rapid/gh-days.png

Anyone know where that image actually lives? Database maybe? Or some plugin archive file?

They're in the actual jar or obr files that addons are distributed as.

Addons are packaged as jars and/or obr files - you'd have to unpack them, overwrite the file, or tweak the code to reference your own copy and and rebuild them, deploy them to JIRA and (probably) restart it. That's assuming it's a simple image file and not one built on the fly, of course.

Oh well that's a bit more complicated then I would have hoped for. Thanks for the info!
