An easier way to move pages in Confluence

David Choi August 31, 2015

Hi,

is there an easier way to move pages around in Confluence?

Although, the common steps Tools/Move/choose new parent page/.. is easy enough, but still not easy enough and too many unnecessary steps for some users.

Actually what I need is, an user macro, which appears as a simple button on the page, by clicking on it, the page will be moved directly to a defined new parent page.

What about the "reorder pages" page? Go to Space Tools -> Reorder pages.

I'm not sure that adding an "action" button to the content of a page is "easier", as your users are going to have to remember to add it to every page, and it doesn't make a lot of sense to embed actions in content.

But, you can do it.  Create a user macro that points to the "move issue" url that the option in the tools menu.

p.s. As the latest blacklist is being silly and won't let me embed links, see https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Writing+User+Macros

It will be easier for the for the user, If they create the new pages from a specific template which I already embedded the macro.

Yes, templates can help you create pages. But content is still the wrong place to embed actions. I know I'd remove macros like that from my pages to make them more simple and easier to use.
