I  am trying to find a good replacement for a custom field in our JIRA server , which is originally an HTML table created through a JIRA plugin. Off late - its getting very laggy and very hard to maintain. Are there any other alternatives that we can use , so that the table structure is maintained for that custom field?

You may just want to create a default custom field and setup it up as a "Wiki Renderer" on which you can render tables and such.

Thanks Gabrielle, but will this also enable seamless adding/deleting rows in create/edit/view screens of jira issue?

adding/deleting rows means editing that custom field and updating the texts manually. Try it so you will now what I mean :)
