After disabling URL Normalization in our Threat Management Gateway ( TMG ) our Activity Stream is started working on Confluence.

After Migrating jira 6.1.6 all our jira gadgets were not working on Confluence. After disabling URL Normalization in TMG , this problem also resolved.

The link translation was modified in TMG. We have since moved to ARR and DirectAccess, so these sort of issues for our external users is gone.

I have found couple links with workarounds for this very same problem we were having from TMG side and they all point out clearing the block high-bit characters and normalization settings. These two changes worked for my case.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837865/en-usThis one suggest to clear the “Block high-bit characters” check box, which I think might be a fix.

http://donalconlon.wordpress.com/tag/forefront-tmg/This link exactly talks about item 1 + Normalization

Hi Bradford

We also face this in JIRA 4.4.5.

Could you explain the fix ?

Where to change the TMG rule ?

Thanks, Vishnu.

I am experiencing the same problem. It may be related to using a TMG 2010 gateway, but have been unable to resolve the issue.

Update: This was resolved. The issue was related to the TMG rule and trying to do link translation, which was confusing Jira. Once I turned that off (I have Jira running on port 8080 since it doesn't properly support host headers), activity stream is working fine.

Hi Bradford, how did you turn that link translation of? Within the JIRA or TMG?

Thanks.

Did you get it to work?
We face the same issue, I created a support ticket but been told it's more likely our networking (apache / tomcat) setup and that this is not supported by Atlassian.

If you had it fixed, do you mind sharing?

Thank you
