Cannot Update Custom Avatar

I have saved an image, 45x45. I get to the Select Avatar screen and click browse. I see the images on my hard drive and select one. I click open and the screen appears as though it worked but when I click the confirm button nothing happens. We have JIRA 6.x abd I tried this using IE10 emulation.

Any suggestion on how to resolve this?

Worked, seemed to be something with selecting the image portion... not exactly sure what.

Hi Friends,

its 2016 and JIRA Version v7.1.7#71011 and the same behaviour occurs with "some files" again, when they are too big.Atlassian still has no decent error messages here.

One user just reduced size from 180x180 to 150x150. Filesize changed vom 32k ot 135k, but it worked.

Seems the fileencoding is an issue here.
