Export pages in Wiki markup

Hi,

is it possible to export pages in Wiki markup or Markdown instead of pure HTML (Storage Format), PDF, or Word document) in Confluence 5.3?

No. About the best you could do is if the page content was enclosed in a macro from the Wiki Plugin for Confluence or Markdown for Confluence. Even then you would need some script processing to get at that specific content. http://www.amnet.net.au/~ghannington/confluence/wikifier/rt/ is another reference.

The Wikifier RT looks very promising and since it's just a couple of Wiki pages I want to convert one time, I'll just do the manual work.

To convert from Confluence Wiki Markup to Markdown:

1)  In Confluence click 'Space Tools' in the bottom left and select 'Content Tools'.

2)  Click the 'Export' tab > select 'HTML' > click 'Next'

3)  Select 'Custom Export' > check the pages you want to export > click 'Export'

4)  Wait for the pages to export, click the link to download.

5)  Unzip > open one of the HTML files in a text editor > select and copy all text

Dom Christie solution is great. I added a small plugin to support specifics of Confluence such as tables as mentioned above. Hope this helps.

Hi Jochen,

depending on what you want to achive, Bobs answer might be right: the internal storage format is xml now, a conversion "back to wiki markup" is not of atlassians making, thats why the plugins are necessary. If you "just" want to migrate content - its called "Space Export -> XML Export" and gives you the true format, not the HTML

thanks for your answer!

My goal is to get a Markdown version of a couple of Confluence Wiki pages. Thus the XML export would require me to write an XSL template to convert the contents. Since it's just a couple of pages to convert I'll probably just go with the Wikifier RT that Bob mentioned.
