Is it possible in Jira 6.1 to use a postfunction in "Create issue" to set Assignee to CurrentUser?
When setting values for a custom field I can assign the variable %%CurrentUser%%, but this option seems not to be available for system fields (like assignee).
Hi Ingvar
This is possible, you just need to add the 'Assign To current user' post function on the Create Transition step in your workflow.
Check this documentation:
Ah! I didn't see this option at the top of "Add Post Function To Transition" list! Was fiddling with the "Update issue field" at the bottom.
Now, the post function "Assign to Current User" does not work for me, the issue always gets assigned to project lead.
HOWEVER, "Assign to reporter" does the trick, it sets the reporter (who is current user) as the assignee.
Thanks for your reply.
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
(In "Create issue" use post function "Assign to reporter" since "Assign to current user" did for some reason not work for me.)
I found out why issue wasn't assigned to Current User. When adding postfunction "Assign to current user" it is automatically placed in 2nd position, after "Creates the issue originally". I had to move it up into 1st line to get it to work.

Also you need to delete "change assignee" screen on this transition, for postfunction works well.
