Why is the Text Formatting broken/missing in Jira Comments?

Joern Guy Joern Guy November 17, 2011

I have posted a comment formatted using the wiki notation shown at

https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/WikiRendererHelpAction.jspa?section=all

as the manual states is possible.

The wiki text is not interpreted and the text editing widgets are not shown.

Hi Joem,

It sounds like your comment field has been configured to use the plain text renderer instead of the wiki style renderer. You can change this by editing your field configuration. You can also read more about renderers.

I suppose this isn't the right venue for this, but do you have any idea why my use of the text formatting on a (jira) project-kenai issue wouldn't take hold? the issue is https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-40703, and according to their docs (which refer to yours) it _should_ be formatted properly: https://java.net/projects/help/pages/JiraIssueTracker#Jira_Text_Formatting
