Will there ever be a "right click -> Sort Alphabetically" feature in Sourcetree for my repositories?

For future reference the view you're talking about is the Bookmarks panel.

There is no automatic sort of Bookmarks in the Windows version right now but you can drag & drop bookmarks in the panel to order them however you like. You can also group them into folders, which is what I do to organise my repositories logically. You can right-click and select New Folder to create a folder, then drag/drop bookmarks into the folder structure as you like.

As of version 2.1, this is now called "New Group".

Right click, Sort by Name

Added to SourceTree OSX 1.4, back in 2012: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SRCTREE-838

Windows is no longer supported, and this won't be fixed:

Windows is still supported. Atlassian closed all old bugs following the 1.8 release because some might be irrelevant. It was an annoying move on their part, but not a sign of removing Windows support.

As of early May, they've started beta-testing version 1.9 for Windows: https://blog.sourcetreeapp.com/2016/05/04/sourcetree-early-access/

I wrote a Python script based on @David Syme's suggestion. Run this and it will alphabetize your SourceTree repositories for you.

Thank you. I use folders to organize bookmarks, so I made a version of your script that also works with folders:

Not ideal, but you can try manually editing %APPDATA%\Atlassian\SourceTree\bookmarks.xml

This is a major pain that windows doesn't support this, having to group things into folder isn't what I want, I have 150 repos, I should be able to simply sort them all and also search them all.

Some problem for me, I have to manually sort my repository bookmarks. Working with Sourcetree 1.8.1 on Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks).

Should already be available on MAC (see https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SRCTREE-838) - but obviously it isn't (I only use SrcTree4Win)

I still wonder if Atlassian will ever provide feature-equal variants for MAC and WIN (see https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/188551/main-differences-between-sourcetree-for-win-and-for-mac)

Hi Pieter,

Apologies, I think I'm a little confused - the repositories are already sorted alphabetically? Or are you asking how to sort by date? Either way I'm afraid the sorting is something that's not currently configurable.

One possible suggestion. If you've upgraded to Stash 2.6 you have the option to quick search across all your repositories which might be faster than scanning through a single project list.

Finally, you're welcome to create a feature request so we can track the issue further.

Cheers,

Charles

I also have to apologize. Is was not refering to the stash server but to the sourcetree application for windows, projects in the stash are alphabetically ordered. Repositories are -by default- added at the bootom of the list.

No worries. At this point I've added the sourcetree tag - hopefully someone who knows more about it can help.
