Add the field Original Estimate in my Kanban List View to the Issue-Cards

Deleted user August 20, 2013

Hi,

I want to add the field Original Estimate in my Kanban List View to the Issue-Cards. I tried

to modify the Card Style using the Plugin Configuration of Greenhopper (Project Templates).

It says, the changes apply on classic boards only. But I couldnt find out which boards I actually use, the classic or none classic ones?

I also tried to configure the board itself. No success.

Thanks for any help

Kind regards

We use the kanban and scrum boards, not the classic board. In Scrum boards the original estimate is shown, in kanban boards it is neither visible nor configurable. Currently this is not a big issue for us, so i would like to close this question from my side or hand it over to anbody else who has a bigger need for this.

Add the "Time Tracking" field to your screens and then Original Estimate will be available on your issues when using Kanban.

if this is Kanban, why would you want to estimate them?  This should be based on the most important thing to work on.

Sorry the Agile Purist in me had to chime in.

Because customers often ask what the impact would be of moving one card before another--will it cost one day? Three? Ten?

Whatever agile approach you choose, having at least a rough idea of the effort required to perform any given task is relevant; Kanban is no exception.

For us we use a kanban board for the planning stage of a ticket which then feeds into a scrum board and we'd like it to be possible to add estimations on the kanban portion of the workflow.

Same here.

I agree with the Idea of Kanban works from the highest important to low. But this feature is needed here to show the Project manager the time each resource consume on tasks. and of course that can be used later on sprint retrospective

Hello,

It seems to be unfortunately still impossible in kanban, you can vote this pending ticket https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-6175 asking for those fields in kanban among other things.

He there, mb.

From the description that you have provided, it sounds like you are using the Kanban (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AGILE/Kanban+Board). Can you confirm on that? (This refers to the Rapid Board Kanban)

Else, you might be using the Classic Boards (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AGILE/Using+Classic+Task+Board+Modes).

On the other hand, can we check wehther you happen to make use of the Agile Cards plugin in your JIRA instance?

I am running a Kanban board and do not even get the option to add original_estimate to my issue detail view. This seems overly restrictive. It's configured for the default view - how to make it appear on issue detail view?

I'd like to know that, myself!
