What is the usage for addLabelByName?

Is addLabelByName https://developer.atlassian.com/static/javadoc/confluence/4.2.13/reference/com/atlassian/confluence/rpc/soap/ConfluenceSoapService.html#addLabelByName(java.lang.String, java.lang.String, long) exclusive to labeling spaces and pages?

I'm trying to label attachments using this function but I think the reason why the labeling isn't working is because the attachment ID that I'm passing in won't qualify as the "ContentEntityObject ID". The attachment ID I'm using is from the getAttachments function.

Hello Hanchel, the assumption is correct, currently the addLabelByName supports pages and spaces. You can create a feature request in http://jira.atlassian.com requesting for an improvement, you may use this ticket as a starting point.

I created a plugin you can install that adds a new SOAP method for adding labels to attachments. You can install the plugin using the "manage add-ons" item in the Administration console.
