Is there a way to view all of a Confluence wiki as it appeared on a certain date?

Liviu Constantinescu August 13, 2013

I know that individual pages contain full history, and can be rolled back to any given date, but is is possible to view and navigate a wiki as it appeared on a certain date?

That sounds as if it would require some sort of programming or script to trawl through the database and pluck out the appropriate versions of every page, and then write them out somewhere. If you need that feature for some sort of regulatory audit, it would be best to flag the actual pages that would be needed (maybe by adding a page label to each target page), or ensure that they're all kept in one or two specific spaces.

If you restrict your SOPs to one or two spaces, you could take a "snapshot" of that space every night - you could write a script to do it, or any space admin can do that manually.

Failing that, you could set up a new instance of Confluence and restore your backups for that day into it.

I was going to suggest keeping an archive of the Daily Summary emails, but that still would not solve your issue with viewing th eentire hierarchy of a given space during a given date/time. The problem is that Confluence doesn't track pages when they are moved, only when they are edited. I digged around for various feature requests and the closest I saw where these two issues which you might want to keep a watch or vote on: CONF-5231 and CONF-7003. Good luck.

If you're looking for a specific page/blog that was created in a certain date, you may I want to play with the table CONTENT.

I hope this helps.

That's not quite what I'm after, I'm afraid.

The issue, for us, is that we would like to use Confluence to host a series of Standard Operating Procedure documents, but we need to be able to view the entire hierarchy of these documents as they appeared on a certain date.

Say, the auditor says "I want to see your Standard Operating Procedures from January 12, 2013", we need to be able to view our Confluence space as it appeared on that date.

Is there some way to do this? Or a feature request I could vote on?
