Over time, a lot of our users have been uploading attachments and some of them are quite large. I'm looking to review space usage and find attachments which are over, say, 5 MB in size and if possible older than 6 months; then review them to keep/delete.
Note that I'm aware of attachment size restrictions. What I'm trying to do is search for attachments based on size and possibly date.
I use the meta data searches.
For example "filesize:[1024 TO 2048]" will find attachments between 1k and 2k in size. Setting the first number to say 1Meg, and the second number to something astronomical is an excellent starting point for "hunt the chunky attachment".
This trick supports searching created/modified dates for attachment as well, but I've not played with them, so don't have an example in mind.
My bookmark is not from Atlassian's docs for a change - http://docs.servicerocket.com/display/ATLASSIAN/Searching+Confluence+-+Advanced+-+Metadata+With+Lucene#SearchingConfluence-Advanced-MetadataWithLucene-BooleanType
This doesn't really serve the intended purpose, imho. I tried this, and lucene compares range based on an alpha and not on an integer. e.g. 8192 TO 9999999999 includes attachments whose filesize starts with the 8,9, or randomly, 10. It will show an 8kB file, but not a 3MB file.
