We need to move a number of projects from our Ondemand Jira into an existing on prem Jira.
Following the instructions https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA063/Restoring+a+Project+from+Backup#RestoringaProjectfromBackup-RestoringaprojectfromJIRACloudtoJIRAServer
we imported one project into a clone of the On prem Jira, and there were some problems:
• The sub-tasks imported are not linked to the parent issues
• The issues are not linked to the Epics
• Components and versions are created, but the issues are not linked to them
• Epic names are not imported
• The information in Custom Fields are lost
• All labels are lost
• Information about sprints, both current and completed, are lost
Is there a better way to migrate that the one stated in the link or is there a way to preserve the links when migrating?
Best regards
Kim
I would do a full export into an empty JIRA, use a plugin like Botron to copy project schemes into your live JIRA and do a project import with the backup xml exported from the now not empty JIRA.
As long as your custom fields have atleast one value in them they will then migrate.
Botron also supports some plugins
Agile data however it does not, bulk changes are required here.. But the time you save using a plugin like Botron to do the bulk of the work makes up for the time spent on slight manual work..
Hello Kim!
Currently, is not possible to migrate Agile data using the Project Import Tool. Our developers are already aware of the importance of this feature to some of our customer, and are working in a solution to be released soon. You can find further information on the Suggestion https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-28748
You can also add yourself as a watcher of this suggestion to be aware of any news on it.
I would also recommend to you to check the possibility of importing issues in JIRA using a CSV file, which could help with your incomplete data in custom fields, labels, versions and so on.
Cheers!
