How do I read bamboo custom variables via the REST API?

Dana Lacoste July 16, 2013

I'm using the REST API to provide many reporting/monitoring functions, and I can do almost everything, but I can't see what the values of any custom variables were.

For example, when I go to:

https://bamboo/rest/api/latest/result/PROJ-PLAN/1234?expand=metadata

I can then see who triggered the build and if dependencies were disabled (not relevant to this question). But when I go to

https://bamboo/browse/PROJ-PLAN-1234/metadata I can see both of those variables _and_ the list of custom variables that were overridden in this build.

I can see many people asking questions about how to SET those variables via the REST API, but I can't find anyone showing how to READ the variables after the job was complete.....

HI Dana,

This is currently not exposed. I have raised an improvement request at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BAM-13511. Please vote for it and watch for updates

I hesitate to click "Accept Answer" because I don't -want- to accept the answer, but it does reflect the current state of things.....
