Can the Affects/Fix Version fields be linked with Subversion?

If we want to use SVN revisions (or any version value) for our affects/fix versions fields in JIRA, currently we would have to first add the version to the Versions list under project administration which we find can be inconvenient in rapid development cycles.

Is there a way link Subversion to JIRA so that revisions can be input as validated from SVN? (Does the JIRA subversion plugin allow this?).

If you expect the versions picked up from the /tags/xxx type folders, then no, it will not work in core JIRA.

I'm not deeply familiar with the Subversion plugin, but when we used that, this feature didn't exist.
