Confluence and SEO

Can someone who is familiar with the whole SEO thing please tell me how search engines pick up keywords on a COnfluence page? Do they read words define in the excerpt macro?

SEO should work the same way for Confluence as for every other website. All you need to do is to make sure that the Confluence site is exposed to anonymous users so that it can be crawled and indexed by the search engine robots. As far as I know, there are no hard and fast rules on how the way SEO works for Confluence but there is already a thread in Atlassian Answers itself that you can refer to:
