Remove an issue type from "Default Issue Type Scheme"

Hanae alahcen May 23, 2013

Hi everyone

I created a new issue type called "T1" and I associated it with two specific projects P1 and P2

I also created a new system issue types i put T1 on it

So when I go to project P1 or P2 I all i find is T1 ( that's what i want )

The problem is that T1 when I created it was assigned directly to the "Default Issue Type Scheme"

And it also appears among the types of issues in the other project , but i want it to be showed only in T1 and T2

So I want to remove T1 from the "Default Issue Type Scheme"

which is not possible

how can i do it ? or do you have any other ideas to help me create one issue type showed only on two specifique projects ?

Create a new Issue Type Scheme for each project (don't use default), edit the new schemes to include the Issue Types you need, associate the schemes to your projects

Step 1
Navigate to Administration, Issue Type schemes, locate "Default Issue type Scheme", go to the right, click Copy, give it a name such as P1 Issue Type Scheme

Step 2
Navigate to Administration, Issue Type schemes, locate "P1 Issue type Scheme", go to the right, click Edit, add/remove issue types as needed

Step 3
Navigate to Administration, Issue Type schemes, locate "P1 Issue type Scheme", go to the right, click Associate, choose your project name

Repeat for Projects 2, 3.

Hi Hanae,

if you want the new issue type only to be seen in the "project to request new projects" and nowhere else, you have to create a new issue type scheme for it. Insert the issue type to your new issue type scheme and use this issue type scheme in your project. Look Here

So we're back at your first question. The new issue type is automatically visible in all the projects that use the "Default Issue Type Scheme". So, what you can do, is create a copy of the default issue type scheme. In this copy, you can remove your new issue type. Then you have to use the new issue type scheme in all your projects which were using the default issue type scheme.

Another option might be not to use a new issue type but to use a default type. Why not use "New Feature" ? I think, if your project has a clear name, everyone will understand what is meant by "New Feature".

Just an idea. Hope it helps.

Cheers

Thomas
