Workflow post-function

Pierre Rondeau Manningham May 21, 2013

Hi, I'm having issue using the post-function update assignee field to a specific user on the create transition. At first the component lead assignement was overriding the post-function so I made the field optional. So if I don't enter the component it just leaves the assignee field to unassigned.

How can I make this post function work on the Create transition?

Thanks

If you create a postfunction for the Create Issue transition, which sets the assignee to a specific user this should work. I use the "Update Issue Field" postfunction and choose Assignee as field to update. Now you can select the user you want to be the first assignee and add the postfunction. In my case the postfunction is the first in the list of postfunctions and it works perfectly, even if the user is able to select an assignee on the create screen.

And don't forget to publish the modified workflow after editing... :-)

This is the post-function I'm using and I did publish the workflow but still it takes the component lead or the default project assignee instead of the one I specify in the post function. Could it be a bug in the specific version I'm using? v4.4.1#660-r161644

Uh, sorry, my question was targeting the postfunctions already added to the workflow, not the possible ones :-)

Could be. For me it's working with v5.1.8.

Are there any other postfunctions on the Create Issue transition?

Ok, please try to move the last postfunction to the top before "Creates the issue originally.

-Have you noticed the "default assignee" in the project tab? If the user is constant within the same project, you only have to inform that user and the issue will be assigned to him unless you inform a component with a different lead developer.

-Have you attempted to use 2 postfuncions? First, assign to lead developer to assign the issue to the component. Then a second postfunction to update assigned field. Try this order and reverse. You can find some useful postfunctions in the "Jira Misc Workflow Extensions" and "Jira Suite Utilities" plugins.

Hi, what I'm trying to achieve is to have a default assignee for one specific workflow upon creation.

But it seems like whatever post-function I configure in the create transition of this specific workflow it takes the Lead Component default assignee or the project default assignee (unassigned).

I tried 2 postfunctions without success :(

Hi, could you please explain again what you would like to achieve? If you set the assignee in the create postfunction this should always work, but I'm not sure I understand your question the right way.
