Email address change

Nanda Kumar May 16, 2013

Hi,
We had recently opted your Bitbucket Git option and migrated from OnDemand SVN. After migration all is going well with git. But there has been a change in our company website domain name and accordingly all the official emails were also changed. Hence the email of the users on our OnDemand accounts profiles were also changed accordingly.

Since Bitbucket has its own login and user profiles. What can be done to reflect according. Bitbucket has the option to change username on the account profile but not emails. If the emailids on Bitbucket and Ondemand profiles are different does it mean the user accounts will not be mapped via you integtration plugin. There is an option to add additional emails on the Bitbucket account profile. Will it be sufficient to add the new email and set it as primary?

Please do get back at the earliest. Thank you.

You can add the email address in Bitbucket and make it primary. It is however not require to keep the current level of integration in place, just optional.

@Mike: Thank you for the response. I think i had read from the migration doc set that its necessary to have the emails same. Or is that any other means by which the accounts are matched. Its just for the sake of knowing so that we don't break anything up unknowingly.

Thank you once again for the response. Its helped a lot to keep out the fear of cutting out the integration link.

The email addresses of your commits must match the email addresses of user accounts in Jira. The email address for your user account in Bitbucket doesn't need to match as it isn't what is used to author commit messages. Check out https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BITBUCKET/Setting+your+username+for+Bitbucket+actions for more detail on what this means.

I tried testing out the adding JIRA ticket# to the commit message of Git with both, old email and new email, and as you said it is certainly appearing on the commit tab of JIRA ticket detail view page in both the cases. Then i guess its better and alright to add the new email as well. Thank you.

Is there a way to notify commits by committer's name? Presently It's been notifying by repo address.
