Atlassian Cloud with Google Accounts: Jira Capture Asks for password

Jack Murgia June 4, 2015

If I am logged into my company JIRA via a Google account authorization- how can I use JIRA Capture? It expects an email based user/password combination.

Hi Jack,

You can log-in the following way:

  • Open JIRA Capture in your browser, specify URL, login and <any-text> in password.
  • Submit the form in the browser extension.
  • As a result: JIRA Capture will reply that these credentials are invalid:

  • Click the try logging in via JIRA link.
  • Log-in to JIRA using Google account authorization.
  • Close & Re-open the browser extension.
  • JIRA Capture is logged-in now:

Don't hesitate to contact if you get any issues.

this no longer works with that latest version of Capture... I can/am logged in via Google and Jira works fine, however I can't get Jira Capture to work for the life of me via the Google login, and this is a paid product and is obviously ignored and not managed well (doesn't work in Safari etc. and this issue, etc.)!

Hi @[deleted]!

Sad to hear accessing Jira Capture does not work on your instance.. I'm hoping this piece of information can guide you to solving the problem that you are having.

One of Marketplace vendors, Zephyr recently have acquired Capture for Jira https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/capture and currently is supporting the add-on.

I suggest to raise a support request with Zephyr at http://www.getzephyr.com/support . So far folks there were very engaged and helpful.

Wishing you a great day!

No, they have not been any help other than saying that they have received the error report and gave me a link to an ticket that is for the error in Firefox and does not reference Chrome or Safari.

And when I try to log in, I get varying errors, including stating that my license on my account doesn't support Capture.

So basically Capture has become completely unusable for me and is a total "goat rodeo". You don't understand how angry this makes me as the system and feedback channels are now completely unusable and we can no longer develop.

And I pay for this feature that doesn't work!!!!!!

BTW, the link you sent me to, used to work, but no longer functions, and this is the problem. Again, I have even added/redone my user with login information so that I don't have to use Google and that doesn't even work!!!!

Hi Jim,

Indeed that's not how any product meant to work. Please let me check this on our end.

Hopefully this would help getting some traction with Zephyr support as well.

@[deleted], can you please provide any leads so I can identify your instance? URL / SEN? For your convenience you can email it to me at ialexeyenko at attlassian dot com.

Thanks- those steps failed at first but found the cause- incorrect JIRA url. Flushing cache and cookies did not remove that incorrect URL, so I had to uninstall and reinstall the extension in Chrome. Then it worked as you described.
