Clone issue to as admin

Jeegar Shah May 29, 2015

I am trying to run the clone issue script to put a copy of the issue into a Development side project. However we want customers to be the ones to activate the cloning process.
This has caused an issue where the user activates the script but as they dont have the authorisation to create tickets into the Development project, the clone doesnt take effect. Is there any work around this?

Hi Jeegar,

The simple solution would be to give those people access to the Development project. If that's something you would like to avoid there might be a solution with the Issue Level Security: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Issue-level+Security

Best,

Maarten

Hi Maarten
Unfortunately neither option is really viable at the moment. We do not want to give them access to the development project incase we discover problems before they notice (which could harm relations in one way or another) and looking at configuring issue security, I see no way to allow them to clone issues into a project they cannot see

Thank you for the help though smile

Issue security schemes lets you lock down who can see issues. Use it combined with the Permissions scheme and it would work.

Hi Jeegar, As Daniel described above you could allow them to create issues in the project (required to be able to clone) and add an issue screen to all existing and newly created issues that prevents them from opening the issues. I think (never tested) that it should work. Best, Maarten

Hi Maarten and Daniel Thank you both for the information! The Solution was actually really simple, just using the Permissions Scheme I was able to add in that they can create/clone projects. As they didnt have the permissions to view the projects everything was safe and sound. Thank you both again Very much! Jeegar
