I have IIS setup to rewrite subdomains to JIRA and Confluence.

  • tasks.domain.com -> domain.com:8080
  • wiki.domain.com -> domain.com:8090

I've been using JIRA for days like this without problem.  Today I installed Confluence and all was seemingly fine.  I've been going through some configuration and playing around without trouble.  Then I tried to view the demo space.  I got a 404.  So basically:

domain.com:8090/display/ds/Welcome+to+Confluence <-- Works fine

wiki.domain.com/display/ds/Welcome+to+Confluence <--- 404

For now I kept the base URL as domain.com:8090 so it will automatically point to a working URL, but I really want to know how to fix this.

It was actually due to the + (plus) character in the URL.  I had to enable "allow Double Escaping" in IIS.  All is working now!

Hey Scott,

From the outlined steps in this documentation, I believe that you are following the right direction here. However, once we still need to update the port number in the Base URL, can you check if all the procedures from setting up the instance behind Apache are properly done? This could be crucial for the URL to be found.

Hope it helps ya, sir!
