Can I clone issues and structures in Java?

Is there any (easy) way to copy a structure and clone the structure's issues in Java? I tried the method copyStructure in the StructureManager, but that only copies the issues without cloning them. 

In the JIRA Java API or REST API, do there exist any methods for cloning issues?

I guess that the easiest way is to iterate over your existing structure and create new cloned issues and new structure while you are iterating.
