Confluence Page in a JIRA Issue

Jens Knobloch May 20, 2015

I tried to link a Confluence Page in a JIRA Issue and got the attached error message*. We use JIRA selfhosted, it’s SSL secured. Our Confluence server is not SSL secured. For the application link we use OAuth … for outgoing and incoming authentication. It looks like it works poperly, how ever I can not load confluences spaces in Jira, for example.

Error*:

java.lang.IllegalStateException: OAuth Authentication is not configured for application link Confluence

Hi Jens,

As mentioned in this answers thread, one of the alternatives would be to check for the Application Links troubleshooting guide too, but, to have a background from your side, can you let us know if this issue have started after configuring the applications to run through SSL? If so, can you make sure that any certificates have been imported into the correct truststore for both applications? For example, the troubleshooting session in this KB article.

To definitely isolate it, you can try to bypass the SSL authentication for the Application Links (using IP address of the server, for example) and see if the same will happen, once you remove and create the app links again. smile

Hi Jens,

When you created the application link, was the reciprocal link created on both ends automatically (it should have redirected you between both applications and done the job by itself) or you had to create the link yourself to them?

I suspect that your JIRA application is having trouble to talk with your Confluence or vice-versa. We also have this tool https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.atlassian.applinks.applinks-diagnostics-plugin that you can install on both ends to help further troubleshoot the connection between both applications.

Best regards
