How can I notify an Assignee when linked dependency issues are resolved?

We have tasks with a number of sub-tasks. Some of the sub-tasks cannot beginning until other sub-tasks, for the same issue, have been resolved. We can link the sub-tasks together using the Issue Links and set them to "Depends on".

When I open the sub-task I can see the Issues linked and the current status of the dependent issues.

Is there a why I can notify the assignee when the "Depends on" issues in the Issue Links are resolved?

Any ideas or has anyone had any success with this?

We have a similar situation and have added a Notification scheme for the project, then added a custom event to fire in the workflow as a notification when the linked issue closes (as a post function).  Possibly, this approach might help?
