Can I create multiple stati that the Create transition can be set to?

Scott Bourdeau May 6, 2015

When I Create an issue, is it possible to choose the issue status? That is, I'd like to be able to create an issue as either "New" initially or as something like "Ready for DEV" initially.

The reason I want to do this is we have some upstream stati for our issues that feed a backlog grooming board that our product owners use frequently. Our initial status for our main development scrum board is "Ready for DEV", so anything in the "Ready for DEV" status is essentially our vetted backlog on our scrum board, and other tickets that have not been groomed will never show on our scrum board. This works really well except when one wants to quickly create a ticket in Plan mode on our dev scrum board using the convenient "Create issue" link that shows up at the bottom of the sprint. When we do this now, the new ticket goes right to "New" status and is thus invisible on our board. One then has to go find this ticket and transition it to "Ready for DEV" in order for it to show on our scrum board.

Can anyone think of any valid solutions to this?

Thank you!

You can "Fast Track Transition" an issue on the created event (a post-function) to your wanted status. However, this will affect all the issue using that workflow.

They're on Cloud, so no, they can't.

Hi Scott,

What you could try is creating a specific issue type called Dev Tasks which uses a workflow that simply doesn't include the New step but jumps directly to the Ready for DEV step.

This will allow you to not only create new issues directly on your scrum board but also to have a clear overview of the issues that have been through the backlog grooming and those that haven't.

Best regards,

Peter

No.  A transition can only have one end point.

If you were not on cloud, you could do some stuff with auto-transition scripts or listeners, but those options aren't enabled on Cloud
