When will Confluence Usage Stats plugin be back in a productive manor?

Deleted user May 6, 2015

We were using the Usage stats plugin to monitor the usage of our wiki up to version 5.4 of Confluence.

Now we have upgraded to 5.6.6 and the plugin was automatically disabled.

Enabling shows that the plugin is incompatible and marketplace shows the least update is compatible up to 5.5.7.

This does not look very user friendly to me.

Is this plugin already out of maintenance? Then why is it still delivered?

Will there be a version that is compatible does not impact the performance in short time?

Is there an alternative to monitor the traffic in Confluence (besides adding google analytics everywhere?)

I believe a productive system should have this capability out of the box!

Hi Harald,  I think this Confluence feature request is right in line with what you are looking for. Please vote for, watch and comment here on CONF-11481 (as I did). Confluence product management is listening!

Hi Harold

You could indeed add Google Analytics. AppFusions' Google Analytics for Atlassian Confluence add-on recently had it's version 4.0 release. It works nicely with the latest version of Confluence and has been featured on the Atlassian website here and here.

You can for example see space specific stats in space admin:

Or see who viewed a page:

Another option for user engagement statistics is this product that has been shipping and continually supported for for 3 yrs now. https://www.appfusions.com/display/CONFENGAGE/Home Its a little different spin than the Google Analytics plugin. BTW: the Google Analytics plugin was just recently majorly updated to be compatible with Google's latest APIs. Google has made numerous updates to their APIs over the last year, especially taking effect in April 2015. As such, many Google integrations have been broken, if not updated with these new APIs. So check this out in any solution you use - the new API usage is not optional (to the end user or vendor - mandatory).

I'd prefer the vendor of the tool to deliver those statistics to avoid the hassle on updates of versions or internal database changes since they must measure their traffic for improvements anyway!

Harald, Given you feel that way, I hope you check out the feature request page mentioned in my answer, and perhaps add your comment to that page. Your comment is viable and the best place to make it is on that feature request page so Atlassian Product Management and developers see it Also, please consider upvoting my answer below and/or accepting David's or mine.

Nice hint. But we do not want to spend extra money for something Confluence provided out of the box!
