Unable to access Jira Projects after license update

Vani Reddy May 4, 2015

Hi

I have an issue with JIRA application version 6.2.5. None of the projects are accessible. Our JIRA license got expired and since then we are having this issue. Updating the license with a new one after 2 weeks from the expiry date did not fix the issue.

Here is the error that we get.

500

Sorry, we have some technical problems during your last operation...

And here is the log.

com.google.template.soy.tofu.SoyTofuException: In template JIRA.Templates.Projects.projectTab: In 'print' tag, expression "$tabHtml" evaluates to undefined.

Any idea what to be done?

Googled for you problem and found this: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Viewing+a+Project+or+an+Issue+throws%3A+com.google.template.soy.tofu.SoyTofuException

Please see Jacek Rzeznik's comment:

I had a similar problem with the exception above. Entering safe mode didn't help.

Try to remove indexes according to this ticket:
Unable to Rebuild JIRA Index

After restart everything should be fine (although I'm not sure for how long, it is possible that in few days problem will return because of some broken index - it is only a workaround, I don't know the real cause of the problem)

JIRA 6.2.2

Did you install any plugins that embed content into the projects tab?

Vani Reddy May 4, 2015

I am not sure which plug-ins have this sort of functionality as I am a newbie to this but below is the list of plug-ins that I have installed. I have tried the option to Enable Safe mode but the error dint go away. Agile Reports Plugin Conditions Validator (disabled) Copy to Subtask Plugin JIRA Agile JIRA Sonar Plugin (disabled) Jira SU JIRA Suite Utilities katl-commons System Plugin: Tempo Core System Plugin: Tempo Planning API System Plugin: Tempo Teams Tempo Planner Tempo Timesheets Wallboard Plugin (disabled) WorkPlan Report (disabled)

Please try to disable all of them.

Vani Reddy May 4, 2015

Thanks for your response. Like I said, I enabled Safe mode which means all the plug-ins are disabled. No luck.

That error log is probably unrelated to an expired license and renewing would not have fixed this. Maybe try the following

  • integrity check
  • lock and rebuild index.

Also, this link might be helpful https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Viewing+a+Project+or+an+Issue+throws%3A+com.google.template.soy.tofu.SoyTofuException

Thank You. I shall take a look at the options you mentioned.
