How can I give my contractor group in jira permissions to specific work flow

Elaine Gamble April 14, 2015

We have some contractors working for us and we do NOT want them to have over all jira-user permissions.  I created a new group and called it jira-contractor but now this group is not able to move tickets through the QA work flow.  What step did I miss?

thanks

Elaine

Hi Elaine,

Do you know if your contractor group has Transition Issues project permission?

Maybe they are in need of this permission in order to move transition issues within the workflow.

I hope it helps!

Thanks!

Yep - that was the whole deal - we had a condition on many of the transitions within the workflow - so once I added the OR and the contractor group - then it was working properly. Udo Brand also mentioned this in the post above - plus a gal from our local AUG late yesterday also came back with this fix. So - thank you all for coming through and helping me go and check the one place I forgot to check.

I don't think this answer is correct. Since Elaine already said (see comment on Joes answer) that their contractor group are able to resolve and close issues (so they already have transition issue permission, btw. this is what Joe already answered +1)

Permissions are by project. JIRA doesn't support anything lower than that. Review your permission schemes and if on a current release there is a permission to execute transitions. You may need to move the issues using the QA workflow to another project to allow them to work in it.

Elaine Gamble April 14, 2015

Yep - I created a new permission scheme but they are still not able to have the QA work flow option - they can only resolve/close.  I know I'm missing something silly - but I cannot figure out what it is yet?

thanks

Maybe you have some conditions in that workflow like "only users from Group ... can perform that transition".

Can you check your workflow?

Elaine Gamble April 14, 2015

I will check that workflow - thanks
