Integrating JIRA Download with Confluence OnDemand

IT Department March 12, 2013

We are looking at migrating from JIRA OnDemand to the download version. However, before making that decision we would like to know if downloaded JIRA can be integrated with Confluence OnDemand. I wasn't able to find a clear answer on this question.

Does someone from the community know if this is possible or have experience with it?

Hi Erik,

Application links are enabled already in OnDemand, so you can configure applications links using this link:

Cheers,

Omar

Omar, thanks for your quick answer. So, provided that our own hosted JIRA is reachable from the Internet, we can configure an application link from Confluence OnDemand to our local installation?

Edit: If I read it correctly, it's actually the other way around. In our locally hosted JIRA installation we can configure an application link to Confluence OnDemand, right?

Hello Susan, did you already find out if it is working? We plan to do the same. Thanks and greetings, Martin

I received now also an answer by Atlassian:

Yes you can connect to a locally installed JIRA. There are a few restrictions for this. Full instructions are here - https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Linking+to+Installed+Applications+from+OnDemand

so still 2 installations are required?

What do you mean exactly with '2 installations' Olaf? What is the goal you want to achieve? JIRA and Confluence are two separate applications, so both download versions would have to be installed separately indeed. In our current situation we use OnDemand for both, so no installation was needed.

Hi Susan,

To be honest, before we implemented this, we decided not to use local JIRA but stick with OnDemand so we never implemented the link, sorry :/

Kind regards,

Erik

Erik, We are considering migrating our installed Confluence to onDemand but keeping our installed JIRA for the time being. I'm curious if you were able to do what you were describing in your answer? Is there any hints you can give me?

Thanks...Susan

Alright, no additional answers have been given so far. Thank you Omar for getting me on the right track, I think the 'Edit' note I added before answers my question. Let's consider this answered.
