Are there security issues with Visual Composer add ons?

Hi all, 

I am developing some add ons for Visual Composer. They are quite client specific so I am not planning to submit the plugin to VC as official add on suggestion. I used this bitbucket code to start with. As I am not too familiar with plugin development, are there any security issues I should worry about? The last thing I want is to create a doorway. Are there any resources on this?

The plugin uses wp query to flush posts of specific category slugs or to display them in CSS3 lightbox and such, not much else basically.

I suspect you want to ask this in a Visual Composer / Wordpress forum.

Or explain what it has to do with an Atlassian product (other than the code being held on Bitbucket)

Only if you read the very last part of the page, the small writing in the footer which tells you what software they are using for their documentation What about all the other resources they link to ?
