JIRA 6.4 Upgrade Question

Aaron Pascoe March 31, 2015

If my company is currently using JIRA Service Desk version 1, will we be able to upgrade to JIRA 6.4 without updating JIRA Service Desk?

Thanks!

Atlassian's release notes strongly imply "no".  Service Desk 1.2.7 is only flagged as working up to JIRA 6.3.15.

Now, of course, there's no harm in trying it in a test system.  So I did.  It worked initially, but fell over when I converted an existing project to service desk, and with a new clean SD project, fell over on creating a new request.

If you're really keen on this, then I'd test it in your environment, but you won't be supported, and if you run into the problems I've seen, I doubt you'll get far.  (Just bear in mind that my laptop is running a Linux I built myself, and a dev JIRA spun up by the SDK scripts, so it's a long way of a decent sane server config)

Thank you Nic.  Very good to know.  I was really hoping otherwise, because that pricing model is very nebulous.

I'll have to do some research on what capabilities "non-agents" have on tickets with service desk 2...  We might need 1000+ "agent" licenses.
