Hi all,

I have a JIRA Project that uses the standard JIRA workflow.   This comes with two states "Resolved" and "Closed" and they want me to make that just one state.  Here was my plan of action:

  • bulk transition all the issues in the "resolved" status to "closed"
  • remove resolved from the workflow

Unfortunately, when I go into bulk operations for the first bullet the only available transition is to move from Resolved to Reopened?  Which clearly is not what I want.

Am I going about this operation correctly?  Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks so much,

Robert

Have you checked if there is a condition in the transition from resolved to closed that you don't met. Remove that condition and you can proceed as planned.

There was only one condition "Only users with Close Issues permission can execute this transition." and I have administrator ability. Interesting. I removed that condition and it is available. Thanks. Is that the best way to not have both resolved and closed?

Even if you have administrator ability you still have to meet the conditions of a transition. Looks like you got around the problem; otherwise it sounds like you needed to be in a role with close issues permissions.

Well you could also create a copy of that workflow, in that copy remove the resolved status and then replace the old workflow with the new one. JIRA will ask you how to map the missing resolved status to the new workflow.
