insert jira issue macro create sub issue throws error

Jesse Anderson March 26, 2015

Issue:

From Confluence using the Insert JIRA Issue macro I can create a new standard issue fine (e.g. story, feature, bug) but when i try to create a new sub task i get an error.

Hypothesis:

What i think is going on here is i am trying to create a sub task but a sub task requires a parent and in the create JIRA issue screen there is no way to define the parent of the sub task. My guess is the JIRA Issue macro only allows you to directly create standard issue types (e.g. story, bug, feature, etc..) but not sub issues (e.g. sub task, dev sub task, quality sub task, etc..) and the confusing part is the UI shows sub tasks when it shouldn't, it should only show issue types that will work (short coming of the UI).

You are correct, that looks like a bit of a bug to me - it either needs to prompt you for the parent, or not offer sub-task types.

Tried to create JIRA issue in Confluence (Atlassian Cloud) macro  - It will not show sub-task even JIRA project has sub-task issue type configured.

Mmm, that's a good point - @Jesse Anderson - what version of Confluence are you on?
