How do you control who sees "HipChat discussions" for an issue?

It appears that anonymous users can't see it (which is good). But general user's can and it is not appropriate in my case. Where are the permissions defined for this?

Hi Bob,

Users with the edit permission for the issue will see the hipchat panel in the right sidebar. They will see in how many rooms the issue was mentioned and, if a dedicated room is configured, the name of it.

In order to see any additional information they will be asked to log into hipchat before we display anything. E.g. if they want to see what rooms the issue was mentioned in and what are the messages they will see this dialog when clicking on the mentions link:

We don't have any additional permissions for this panel. Is there a specific usecase you envision when you would want dedicated permissions for the panel?

This explains the current behavior, not so much that I like it that way ;(. See my comment to Tanguy. I can open an issue if you can point me at the right JIRA project to use.

Hi Bob,

With the latest version of the plugin on the Marketplace, you need to be logged in HipChat (and done the 3LO dance) to be able to see the list of issue mentions in JIRA. You can still see "discussed in X rooms", and the name of the dedicated room, but that's it.

Does that suffice in your case?

I would prefer users not see anything since it is a developer HipChat. I know they can't login, but they shouldn't even be thinking they could or trying to.
