Assignable Users - How do I set that permission so that users can share my Bonfire Test Sessions?

Gerard Wills February 19, 2013

I have created a test session in Bonfire and I would like to share that with some other users in my project. However I cannot do that, because the users " ... need to have the 'Assignable' JIRA permission."

Refer https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BONFIRE/Working+with+Sessions#WorkingwithSessions-CollaboratingwithsharedSessions

As an Administrator I should be able to do that easily, but this permission is hidden away somewhere.

I have searched, within Atlassian help, for similar questions using the search parameter assignable and even "assignable", but all I get is a large output with assign results.

How do I set the 'Assignable' JIRA permission?

Hi Gerard,
You will find this permission under the project permissions, not under the global permissions where I think you have been looking now.
When logged in on JIRA, perform the following steps:

  • In the top right corner, click the cog wheel, and navigate to JIRA Admin
  • In the next screen, under the Projects section, follow "All Projects" and select the relevant project in the next screen
  • In the following screen, look up the section "Permissions", and select the permission scheme that currently is assinged to this project
  • In the next screen, under the section "Issue Permissions" you will see the "Assignable User" option.
  • Under the button "Actions" towards the top right of the screen, you can edit the permission scheme and add/remove entities to the relevant permissions.

Note, Permission Schemes can be used for multiple projects, so be aware if you make changes to one, it might impact other projects as well. If you do not want this to happen, first assign a copy of the current permission scheme to the project, before making the edits.

Hi Mick

You have answered my question very clearly. Thank you.

I have applied your instructions to a Group called "testers" and I have assigned a test session to one of the people in that group. It would seem that I can only assign / share a test session with only person and that does not seem right?

Anyway, thank you.

Hi Mick

With your help, I have assigned a test session to one person in a group.

In my original question I asked about ".. some other users in my project ".

I was hoping that by assigning the test session to the group, then all members in that group will share the test session, but that does not seem to me to be true.

How can I share a test session with more than one person?
