Merge JIRA on demand instance with another self hosted JIRA instance

BearingPoint Support February 10, 2013

I have some projects with their own workflow, users, groups etc on a hosted JIRA instance. And we want to Migrate it to our on demand JIRA intance witch is already in use and have its own Projects, workflow groups etc.

What is the best approach for this. Is there a way to merge the two JIRA instances and then restore is on the on demand version? Right now I cannot find a tool for merging two instances.

So I have two working instances of JIRA with their own projects and want to continue using only the on demand version.

If you import your full standalone backup, it'll override the current data on the OnDemand.

My suggestion is that you export each project individually to a CSV file through Issue Navigator (filter to project, then save to Excel, then in Excel save as CSV), and then import each project's CSV creating a new project each time you import it to your OnDemand instance.

That is a good option. But we have a pretty big project and we will have to add the workflows, workflow scheme's etc manually. I think thats the only option though. A full restore of the biggest project and after that import the rest of the projects one by one.

Thanks,
