Franz Inselkammer January 27, 2013

I need the possibility to hide the time tracking for certain users, as we do not want our client to see it.

Hello All,

on Standalone Version you can add the following code in JIRA Announcement banner  (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/configuring-an-announcement-banner-185729633.html)

<script>
jQuery().ready(function() {
  jQuery("#log-work").remove();
});
</script>

Hope this helps,

Fabio

Hi Fabio,

We would like to hide log time from view screen.  You mentioned code (same as banner), where would you locate the template to hide log time for a specific project?  Permission scheme throws permission errors if I restrict in JSD.

User this "Field Hide for Jira" app to hide "Time-Tracking" information based on user rules(group/role/any user).

Have a look at https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.accxia.jira.plugins.workscouncil.WorksCouncil/server/overview

it just has been released to the Market Place and probably it helps to achieve what you want.

@Gebsun- Gave your free plugin a try, and unfortunately it doesn't do the trick when combined with Tempo. Blocked users who shouldn't see time fields were still able to see the time tracking fields when editing an issue, in the activity stream info, etc.

Surprised like everyone else that this isn't a built in feature of JIRA / Tempo

Hi,

Activity stream is a known issue.

WRT issue edit, could you please attach a screenshot showing were the timetracking info is visible? Any other places?

Thanks,
Gebsun

The plugin has been improved significantly and now project activity stream does now show time tracking information any more as well as Activity, History, All tabs on the issue page.

Hi,

@gebsun:

I installed the plugin from: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.gebsun.plugins.jira.hidetimetracking

We are using tempo. As Deb Cinkus wrote above: The plugin doesn't work together with tempo. Worklogs are already shown in the activity stream and in the history of issues from a project where the user does not have time tracking permissions. It seems, that the entry from May 23 is not valid for tempo, isn't it?

Hi Susanne, Are the places you listed Tempo specific? Can you contact us directly at support(at)gebsun(dot)com and attach some screenshots? Thanks, Gebsun

Currently we have the same issue with Jira 6.2.5 and Tempo and Hide Log in Jira. The work logs already visible in Activity log etc.

Guys,

We need MORE information in order to reproduce and fix the issue. Can you please answer following questions?

  • Can you paste an annotated screenshot of the activity log with these visible work logs?
    We are curious where is it located (project/user/dashboard) and how the visible message looks like (is it standard JIRA message or Tempo message).
  • How this problem relates to Tempo? Does it work as expected (is not visible) when you disable Tempo plugin?

Thanks,
Gebsun

Hi,

Is this still a limitation with the plugin?

Kind regards,
Béla

Hi all! I just want to give an update what I have received today from the support team. This missing compatibility with Tempo will not be supported.

See: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.gebsun.plugins.jira.hidetimetracking/server/reviews

@Bela Fricz, that is not true.

This question is about Tempo compatibility and we want to fix any issue with the add-on but we need to be able to reproduce the problem first.

We were not able to reproduce this particular problem and we need your help to give us more clues about it.

Feel free to contact us directly at support(at)gebsun(dot)com and we will try to help.

Cheers,
Gebsun

Hi @Gebsun, I can write again as in May. But I am not sure to renew the plugin again. Let's see.

Hi @Béla Fricz,

We accepted some of your requirements and rejected others but you did not write anything about Tempo compatibility. Please reach us directly with any details you can provide if you think our add-on is not compatible with Tempo. We are happy to work on that.

Accepted requirement: define log work visibility using JIRA groups instead of permission "Work On Issue". That was existing requirement on our backlog: https://gebsun.atlassian.net/browse/HTT-2

Rejected requirement: hide time tracking per user (user is able to log work and see only their own time tracking).

Looking forward for any Tempo compatibility related details if you can provide them.

Thanks,
Gebsun

We have released a free plugin to hide time tracking information: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.gebsun.plugins.jira.hidetimetracking

It makes estimates panel and log work entries not visible to users without log work permission so basicaly if user cannot log work then he is also not able to see time tracking fields.

This plugin works only on the UI side (time tracking information can be still retrieved with e.g. REST API).

This has been raised in here and recently, we have a new update on the ticket which can be seen here. Basically, this is not possible yet and will be possible with the all new Alternative JIRA View.

Might not help completely, but:

You can prevent your customers from logging work with the permission scheme:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Managing+Project+Permissions

Don't give your client the permissions for "Time Tracking Permissions".

And when you log your own work, you can set the visibility level to your role or group:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Logging+Work+on+an+Issue
