SourceTree direct to remote host server?

kps1ny January 27, 2013

Hello,

We would like to use SourceTree directly with a remote host, such that updates in Bitbucket can be pulled directly to the host rather than having to first mount the host as a local drive.

In SourceTree, can the Destination Path be a remote server, or must it always be a local drive?

Can this be done? (We could find no related details in the docs or support pages.) At the moment, we have to mount the remote site locally as an intermediary step and work with it as though it is a locally mounted drive when pulling updates from Bitbucket.

Hi Ken,

This one has already been discussed on SourceTree Support here. To summarise, as Steve says in the issue "it's very slow (compared to local, and git/hg are known for their speed) and prone to issues, such as disconnection corrupting repositories". So unfortunately we won't be supporting it for the reasons described in the linked issue.

Cheers

Thanks for the response.

Trying to go to that link gets this result (I did make an account on that site):
