Daily Status Update

Deleted user March 6, 2015

I have a team updating tickets daily, with management and key stakeholders getting overwhelmed with update notifications when comments are added to tickets.  I plan to alter the default notification scheme to reduce some of this, however I'd like to have the ability to ensure that the end-of-day status on a given ticket goes out to key watchers.

My thought is to create a new comment entry option to capture the daily status, and that comment would go to the new notification scheme.  I have no idea if this is possible, so I thought I'd reach out to see if anyone here may have already seen or done this, or has other ideas on how to approach this.

Ideally this would also allow me to create a filter that I could use on a status page in Confluence linked to my JIRA instance so that key stakeholders can update by email or by visiting the status page.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Ed,

I would suggest using JIRA's subscription feature:

  1. Write a JQL filter to the tickets you would like people to get (you can use the same one you are using on Confluence).
  2. Subscribe a group to that filter with the relevant time you want the email to be sent.
  3. Note: since you can use lines like watchers = currentUser() this means the end result of the subscription will be different for each user which makes this feature so useful.
