How to include the content inside of localtabs in the TOC macro?

Kristina R March 3, 2015

We have inserted localtab groups and localtabs to help us structure our content in Confluence. However, now the TOC macro no longer works, and will not jump the user directly to the content located in the hidden DIV of the tab.

Are there any workarounds that you've tried and can recommend? We'd love to use the TOC macro's automation, but worst case scenario, we'd even accept a manually customized TOC.

same issue using 5.8.14: The TOC macro lists headings in all localtabs, but links only work for the currently opened/active tab; desire is for TOC link to open respective tab

Thank you, Rodrigo Girardi Adami – apologies that it has taken me a while to respond back to your questions.

We are using version 5.4.2 of Confluence. The TOC links do not work on newly created pages, and they do not work in Chrome, Firefox or IE 8.

I am still trying to track down logs to tell you whether we get error messages, but actually don't know whom to ask for those or where that would be tracked inside my organization. Can you say anything more about the types of administrator permissions that would need to be enabled in order to see error logs?

Thanks so much, again!

Kristina

Hi Kristina,

I had the same issue in 5.4.2. The localtab headings weren't listed in the TOC regardless of Browser.

We upgraded to 5.6.1 and now the TOC lists the heading in the localtabs. However, the limitation is that it only recognizes h3, h4, and h5 within the tabs. And even though all the tabs are listed in the TOC, only one tab is activated (the other headings are listed but the navigation doesn't work).

If H1, h2, and h6 title headings are used, then they aren't listed in the TOC (at least on my version). But I don't use those for tabs anyway. So I don't mind.

I don't know if there is a way to fix the issue on your version, but if you can upgrade, I'd recommend at least upgrading to 5.6.1.

Hi Kristina,

Is there any error appearing in Confluence logs regarding TOC macro? Do it works on other browsers? Does this happens to the latest version of Confluence?

If you try to create a new page in Confluence and use the TOC macro, do it work?

Cheers,

Rodrigo
