application links jira to confluence running https?

Timothy Harris February 27, 2015

I was running both confluence and JIRA over http connector.

Because of issue with office connector I set up confluence https access and changed the web.xml to redirect all http traffic to https.

But now this screws up the application links.

How do I handle application links in a JIRA instance running http to a confluence instance redirecting to https?

Timothy,

I've been through this as well and, to perhaps boil it down a bit for you (and this assumes you have PKI issued certs and that you have both JIRA and Confluence accessed via SSL), there are a couple of pages that will be of great help for you (the Oracle pages really are not all that helpful)

The biggie is in the keytool commands to import a trusted cert. The cacerts file you need to get the cert and an alias in for is <conf-install>/jre/lib/security/cacerts

Once you have a trust in that file (you have to bounce tomcat to get it into the running system), your connection will work just dandy.

Hi Timothy!

It's possible to configure the Application Link over HTTPS indeed. However, it will require a little more than an HTTP setup.

We have a knowledge document that includes some useful hints on what procedures to follow when setting up an Application Link over HTTPS.

Cheers!

Joao
