Sending attachments through Service Desk

Ross Gardner February 18, 2015

Is it possible to send files as attachments when relying upon the automated emails generated from adding a comment?

I can see it is possible to attach a file to the ticket and then reference that file but many of our users are mobile and often monitor issues via email on their phones.  Without opening up their laptop and connecting to the VPN, which is not available on their phone, they cannot access the linked files as the service desk is an internal facing site.

It would be really useful to be able to just include the attachment within the automated email.  Is this possible?

Apart from the other replies, you can also use Mail Attachments for JIRA Service Desk that has been released exclusively to address this problem.

I understand that this plugin works for JIRA:

However, I don't know if it is yet compatible with Service Desk. This ability does not currently exist in Service Desk natively.
