Dashboard for authors

Alex Lukashov December 23, 2012

Hi

We've started using FishEye and Crucible recently and there is one thing I'm not sure I understand about Crucisble's dashboard

It shows me reviews where I participate as either moderator or reviewer. But my team complains that if they are set as authors only there is no way to easy find such reviews, only via advanced search.

I'm not sure why it's so becuase my understanding is that if a person is set as author while moderator and reviewers are different persons then Author should have an easy way to find out which reviews are waiting for him to fix found defects.

Hi Alexander,

Authors should see their reviews in the Outbox section of the dashboard, either under the Out For Review filter or the Completed filter. Could you tell me if you see your reviews there?

Cheers,

Sten

I see what's the problem now

We tend to create a review with only two participants: author and moderator. And moderator performs a review. In this case Author doesn't see anything in his dashboard. Author will be able to see such a review only in case there is at least one reviewer, thus it requres three persons.

The funny thing is that if moderator role is enabled it becomes a mandatory to have a moderator in the review, but having at least one reviewer isn't a mandatory - is this something we can change somewhere in the Crucible?

Another thing is that when I disable moderator role, and attempt to create a review it's immediately got created without even showing me Edit Details screen, and created review contains only one participant - Author, I don't think this is an intuitive behaviour.

I added a comment to your JIRA issue regarding that. I think that the best is probably to change the behavior of the dashboard and to make sure that authors can always find their reviews in their dashboard. Making reviewers mandatory would force an extra step which is not always necessary in your case. Moreover in some workflows people can have an opt-in process where people choose which reviews they want to participate in after it's been shared with a group.

Well, I didn't propose to force having at least one reviewer. I propose to add such a setting which can force it so it can be used by teams which really needs this feature.
