Using confluence without an installed java client - is that a problem?

Java on server side is clearly required. No question. But do we need it really on the client side? Which features does require Java to run? Maybe drag and drop to upload files? Others?

No client Java is needed. The drag and drop is a standard web api ... albeit a newish one. So, IE < 10 (I think) does not support it.
