How to install a forge app for bitbucket workspace

Mohan Reddy April 24, 2024

Hi Team,

How to install a forge app for bitbucket workspace that is built by Atlassian for merging of beta data in bitbucket.

As a manual it tells us to install an forge app but how we install it, from where and what app should I install as we are using cloud platform.

Activate new Beta feature in Bitbucket - Custom merge checks doesn't work.

https://bitbucket.org/blog/beta-custom-merge-checks-in-bitbucket-cloud - From this link tells to that install forge app how to install forge app.

Hi @Mohan Reddy ,
Welcome to our community there.

I published this video on YouTube yesterday, have a look here https://youtu.be/x_hUa-2-IZE and let me know if it helps. The sample app presented in the video is available here: https://bitbucket.org/atlassian/forge-bitbucket-secrets-scanner

The merge check is required (meaning that it stops a merge) when using a Premium plan for Bitbucket, otherwise the merge can only be recommended but not enforced.

FYI: the feature is not in beta anymore. It was released as generally available earlier this week. Here is the announcement blog with some more useful links: https://bitbucket.org/blog/custom-merge-checks-are-now-generally-available

Hope this helps,
Caterina

Hi @Mohan Reddy,

the commands are the same for every operating system.

Which command is failing? Is it the forge register, the forge deploy or the forge install? What is the error that you see in the terminal when running the command?

Do you remember if the installation of Forge succeeded (instructions for Windows are here)?
