Can't activate custom merge checks

Mykhailo Pavliuk December 21, 2023

Hi folks! I was redirected here by Atlassian support from https://support.atlassian.com/requests/BBS-212421/

I turned on the custom merge checks feature in workspace settings, but in repository it still says it is not turned on. Could anyone advise?

Thanks!

Hi @Mykhailo Pavliuk

Thanks for reaching out, what you're seeing is actually the intended behaviour. I think you've highlighted that we need to improve the Repository Settings page to explicitly call out that unless you install (and develop) a Forge app which contains a bitbucket:mergeCheck module, there will be no checks to enable.

The idea behind this new feature, is that you design and implement the checks that you'd want in Forge, using the new forge module (https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/manifest-reference/modules/bitbucket-merge-check/). It maybe worth having a thorough read through this page: https://bitbucket.org/blog/beta-custom-merge-checks-in-bitbucket-cloud

Once you've installed your Forge app, containing a bitbucket:mergeCheck module, you will see it rendered in a tabbed table in the Repository Settings page, as shown below.

Hope that helps,

@Dan Fraser
